I SOO want to make
this wreath (as seen on Bloom) asap, but I haven't seen any acorns this shape (see below) here in Utah. Growing up in CA I would find them all the time and grind them up with a stone like the indians did (I know...I'm weird).
Anyone know where I can find some...possibly on the ground so I don't have to pay? I'm cheap. Thanks!

I have acorns all over my house! I should make that!
We went up to oak glen park on saturday and ella filled her jean pockets and jacket pockets with these exact acorns. I wonder how many acorns it takes to make something like this....
do you think it will last or is it something you have to make yearly?
This looks stunning, I am often looking for ways using acorns from our big Oak...thats before the squirals and Jays eat them up!
Looks like Dad and I need to go on a fieldtrip! This is the only house we've lived in where they're not all over the place! And Erica, I saw on the instrucions that you bake the acorns first, so I'm sure it will last.
Let's all mail Heather some acorns so she'll have them coming out her ears! Ha!
In Utah, the tops always stay on the acorns unless you take them off yourself. I didn't know they came any other way. Do the tops fall off the acorns in California, or do they come without tops? Just wondering...
Heather, come back to Bloom on Friday. We may or may not be giving away some Texas acorns for the acorn-less crafters out there who would like to make this wreath ;)
I'll mail you some Heather....
Lyn -- they come with the tops on but drop off very easily. This would look awesome WITH tops.
Shelly, just call my mom and have her grab some from her front yard & mail them to Heather. One of our giant trees dumps them everywhere!
You guys are all so nice! I got the sweetest e-mail yesterday from my friend Jami. She lives down the street and said she has 2 giant oak trees that have dropped ton of them! I'm going to head over today to gather them! Thanks guys!

Most of the acorns in provo are already gone--BYU's especially. You might try for horse chestnuts though. They're gorgeous, and about the same color. Different shape though, sorry.
One of her followers made one using almonds. I think that's the route I'm headed since acorns are no where to be found in hawaii!
